Comvox
Systems is pleased to announce the release of the new
KX-TDA600 Hybrid IP PBX. The
KX-TDA600 is a much larger
version of the KX-TDA100/200 with all the same software Version
3 features. The KX-TDA600 can grow to 1024 ports; however, its
building block modular design keeps the system price competitive
in most configurations.
A fully
configured system consists of 4 shelves, the basic shelf and
three expansion shelves. The Basic Shelf provides a maximum of
160 ports (288 ports with DXDP), and with the optional Expansion
Shelves, the system grows to a maximum 640 ports (960 ports with
DXDP). Plus, with the KX-TDA600's free slot architecture, CO,
extension and feature cards can be installed in any expansion
card slot. This gives you the freedom to use available system
real estate prudently.
The KX-TDA600 is network ready with VoIP, ISDN with Qsig and
Centralized Voicemail. In addition, the TDA600 has a new
programming tool that will streamline the job of programming the
system. We have also added Primary Directory Numbers (PDN's) and
Secondary Directory Numbers (SDN's) which are ideal in a system
of this size, especially when setting up boss/secretary call
coverage.
The KX-TDA600 is a TDA certified dealer model, only available to
select group of experienced TDA certified dealers. As with all
TDA systems, newly purchased TDA600 systems are inactive. TDA
select certified dealers must register the TDA600 system to
activate the system. |

System Growth
The
design of the KX-TDA600 allows Comvox to configure a system to
meet your companies specific requirements. The building block
design of the KX-TDA600 system keeps the system price
competitive, allowing you to only pay for the capabilities that
you currently need. The TDA600 system consists of a Basic Shelf
and up to three additional Expansion Shelves. A total of four
shelves, a total of 43 available slots.
-
To
add a second cabinet to the system Comvox will install a BUS-M
card (KX-TDA6110) in the dedicated BUS-M slot on the right
side of the Basic Shelf. Each Expansion Shelf comes equipped
with a BUS-S card that connects via an interface cable to the
BUS-M card in the Basic Shelf.
-
To expand to the second and third Expansion
Shelf Comvox must install a BUS-ME daughter board (KXTDA6111)
on to the BUS-M card (KX-TDA6110) in the basic cabinet; one
BUS-ME card is required per Expansion Shelf.
The
cabinets are designed to be stacked. The Expansion Shelves stack
on top of the basic shelf, as shown to the right. The distance
between cabinets is limited to the length of cable provided with
the expansion cabinets. An additional method of installing the
system is the side by side configuration shown to the
right. These cabinets also have 19 inch rack mount option. |

Power Supplies
Each
KX-TDA600 shelf is powered independently. The power supplies
plug into the large slot located on the left side of the Basic
Shelf and the Expansion Shelf. This plug-in design makes it easy
to service or upgrade a supply if you need to add equipment to
the shelf. There are two power supplies to choose from, Medium
size (KX-TDA0104) and the Large size (KX-TDA0105). The size of
the power supply required is based on the type of terminal
equipment that will be connected to the cabinet. |

Port and Free Slot Capabilities
TDA600
shelf
capacities are fixed. The capacity of a shelf will never exceed
its maximum. However, most card configurations will not reach
the maximum port capacity of the shelf. The free slot design
does not limit you to installing cards in designated slots,
which provides flexibility when configuring or installing a
system. The free slot, trunk and extension capacities of the
system are shown in the following chart: |

Terminal Equipment Compatibility
The
KX-TDA600 is compatible with a wide variety of terminal
equipment. This includes several of the discontinued Panasonic
proprietary system telephone models such as the KX-T7000,
KX-T7200, KX-T7300 and KX-T7400 series telephones, providing an
affordable solution for existing customers who are interested in
upgrading their system. The Maximum Terminal Equipment Chart
below lists the compatible terminal equipment and the maximum
number of each type that can be connected to each shelf.

Expansion and Feature Cards
Extension, trunk and feature cards can be installed in any one
of the free slots in the Basic Shelf and Expansion Shelves. A
majority of the cards that are used in the KX-TDA100 and
KX-TDA200, are compatible with the KX-TDA600. This allows
existing TDA customers to upgrade inexpensively in comparison to
purchasing a new system from another manufacturer. There are
also new expansion cards designed specifically for use in the
KX-TDA600 system. The chart below lists all the new KX-TDA600
expansion cards and the existing TDA100/200 cards that operate
in the new KX-TDA600. |

Features: |
|
|
|
|
|
As noted above,
the KX-TDA600 has KX-TDA100/200 Version 3 software. However, we
have made a few enhancements that are described below.
PDN (Primary
Directory Number)/SDN (Secondary Directory Number) is one of
the major enhancements. The addition of Primary Directory
Numbers (PDN’s) and Secondary Directory Numbers (SDN’s). Primary
Directory Number (PDN) buttons and Secondary Directory Number (SDN)
buttons are ideal for use between bosses and secretaries. When a
call (intercom or CO) arrives at a PDN button on the boss's
extension, the call will ring and the LED of the SDN button will
flash at the secretary’s extension as well, indicating that an
incoming call is arriving at the boss’s extension. In addition,
caller information (e.g., Caller ID) of the incoming call will
appear on the secretary’s extension. The secretary can answer
the call for the boss by simply pressing the SDN button. Delayed
ringing can be set for a PDN or SDN button.
A secretary can
hold a call answered on the SDN button, and the boss can
retrieve the held call simply by pressing the PDN button, like
when answering a call with an S-CO button. In addition, a
secretary can transfer calls from an SDN button or other button
(e.g., S-CO button) to the boss’s extension with a simple
operation, like when using a DSS button. An extension can have
several SDN buttons, each registered to a different boss’s
extension. However, only one SDN button can be registered for a
single boss at each extension. An extension can have up to eight
PDN buttons. PDN buttons can simplify the use of an extension
because both intercom and CO line calls can be made and received
at a PDN button.
Making Calls
with an SDN Button,
when Standard SDN Key mode is assigned to an SDN extension
(secretary) through COS programming, SDN extensions
(secretaries) can make calls for PDN extensions (bosses) on the
SDN button. For example, a boss can ask a secretary to make a
call and put the call on hold, after which, the boss can
retrieve the held call. Through COS programming, it is possible
to allow an SDN extension to make calls using the COS of the PDN
extension. All other settings that are available when using the
Walking COS feature are also applied.
SDN
Direct Dial,
an SDN extension can call a PDN
extension or transfer a call to a PDN extension using an SDN
button. In this case:
-
Only the PDN
extension rings (i.e., other SDN extensions do not ring).
-
The delayed
ringing and DND settings of the PDN extension are ignored.
Depending on the mode selected through COS programming, SDN
Direct Dial is performed in one of two ways, as follows:
-
Enhanced DSS
Key mode: pressing the SDN button once.
-
Standard SDN
Key mode: pressing the SDN button twice (a dial tone is heard
the first time the SDN button is pressed).
Calls answered
using the SDN button can be transferred to the PDN extension by
simply pressing the SDN button once, regardless of the mode.
Enhanced
Windows Based PC Programming
The easy to use
KX-TDA600 programming tool (referred to in most documentation as
the maintenance console).
The main
programming screen is easy to use, on the bottom there is a
System Menu area that that has 11 main categories that provide
easy access to the area we wish to program. After we select a
program area the information is displayed with tabs at the top
to go from one active programming area to the next. Programming
any site information can be done without being connected to a
system. We can always later upload the programming information
into the KXTDA600 with a direct connection on site or remotely.
